By special request, today we have Wonder Woman‘s invisible jet.
The toy above (image from here on Flickr) represents one vision of invisibility, while the still from the TV series is quite different below, and almost could relate to the popular plastic model kits with see through structures often touted as the ‘Visible ‘or ‘Invistible’ aeroplane, etc.
Thanks to the usual incredibly detailed superhero Wiki entry here we can summarise the invisible jet as follows: “The Invisible Plane (commonly known as the Invisible Jet) is the fictional DC Comics superheroine Wonder Woman’s venerable, though now seldom-used, mode of transport.”
And here’s that social history again! “Created by William Moulton Marston as an allegory for the feminine compliance reaction that women of the Depression relied on to safely traverse the male dominated work place, it first appeared in Sensation Comics #1 (Jan. 1942).”
