Tribute schemes on military aircraft are increasingly often seen, and overall popular when done well, as here.
This one is particularly effective as the blue on the jet’s wings and horizontal tail match the sky, bringing the Spitfire’s famous plan view to life. It represents the Supermarine Spitfire of the late General Frantisek Perina, a World War II ace and former patron of the Czech 212th Tactical Squadron, flying the Aero L-159. This photo was taken on the open day Caslav AFB 2017.
Note also the difference between the topside shot without the red in the RAF style roundels replaced with the Czech Air Force’s toned down tricolour roundel, compared to the shot below.
